How do I suppress the automatic opening of a Shell view when I insert a USB

first idea: disable autorun.
second idea: access the USB stick from the explorer, and there should be a
page regarding autorun on this (or any) USB stick. There you can define
what has to be done.

On my PCs autorun is disabled as it is a risk, so I can only give you
second hand advice.
