Jan Groenestein | Vista blues on Wed, 14 Jan 2009 16:38:14 +0100 Dear collegues, I tried to install our Xbase++ application (ver. 1.9 build 331) on a Vista machine. We tested our stuff on Vista and all seemed to work, but now I run into a problem : For zipping and unzipping data files we use AZIP.DLL and AUNZIP.DLL respectively. On this Vista machine this results in a Internal Data Structures Corrupted error when the DLLLOAD is executed. The DLL's are installed in the right place, as well as BAP Has anyone seen this before ? Kind regards, Jan Groenestein

What folder is data in you're zipping and unzipping? >don< On Wed, 14 Jan 2009 16:38:14 +0100, Jan Groenestein wrote: > Dear collegues, > > I tried to install our Xbase++ application (ver. 1.9 build 331) on a > Vista machine. Jan Groenestein | Re: Vista blues on Wed, 14 Jan 2009 21:36:09 +0100 Hello Don, Thanks for your reply. The data are in folders in which files are regularly created, deleted and edited by our application. I doubt that this has anything to do with security issues. Furthermore, the error occurs at the DLLLOAD function call, that is just the loading of the external DLL and no files in folders are accessed yet. Kind regards, Jan Groenestein Donald R. Jan Groenestein | Re: Vista blues on Wed, 14 Jan 2009 21:35:33 +0100 Hi Jorge, Thanks for the tip but for now I will stick with AZIP.DLL. An error on one machine can't make me change a series of applications that run with many clients on many machines just yet. Martin Altmann | Re: Vista blues on Wed, 14 Jan 2009 23:42:46 +0100 Jan, this has nothing to do with Vista and is the same under any version of Windows! This error is due to a missing DLL - please do also copy ASCOM10C.DLL (not only ASCOM10.DLL) into your app-folder! Regards, Martin ______________________________ Deutschsprachiges Xbase-Forum: http://www.xbaseforum.de/ ______________________________
Jan Escholt | Re: Vista blues on Thu, 15 Jan 2009 06:37:01 +0100 Martin, I also thought about that error. But is AZIP an AxtiveX part? If this really is the problem: Alaska is aware of that and opened PDR 6077 on that topic. Martin Altmann | Re: Vista blues on Thu, 15 Jan 2009 08:46:51 +0100 Jan, this error is not only restricted to using ActiveX! As soon as you do a DllCall(), you will need these two DLLs as well! Jan Escholt | Re: Vista blues on Thu, 15 Jan 2009 09:51:00 +0100 Martin, you are right. Sorry, mixed that topics. Jan Groenestein | Re: Vista blues on Thu, 15 Jan 2009 15:19:40 +0100 Martin, Yes, this was causing the error ! The DLL was there but it was somehow damaged in the installation process. Also I was blaming Vista because at first I got some Xbase internal errors mentioning DLLLOAD, that was eliminated by installing the .manifest file. Thank you (and all others in tis thread) very much for your help. It is always a good idea in cases like this one to try and use dependencywalkers "trace" function to take a look at missing DLLs. Saved me a lot of thinking a couple of times. regards Thomas |
