So what would you have done if Alaska hadn't produced ASINET? You could always write the stuff yourself using the WinAPI and RFCs as a guide, or you could get a 3PP library that does just what you want right now. I agree that it would be very nice if Alaska supplied complete toolkits instead of partial implementations, but the purpose of the 'extra' libraries that Alaska supplies is to provide basic functionality that many people are crying out for. They are not as and of themselves, meant to be a complete solution. If Alaska did that, then a) the entire 3PP market would collapse and b) put too much workload on Alaska on non-core solutions. You still need the compiler don't you? If Alaska had to build (and support) everything, it would leave very few resources available for them to continue improving the Xbase++ language and compiler. Your support of the 3P market frees Alaska Software from this obligation and allows them to concentrate on more important issues that only they can address. Lack of support for the 3P, will only cause the 3P developers to reduce support, and scale back enhancements to their Xbase++ products. Which will mean that instead of spending a few hundred dollars for a 3P tool that does what you want, you will need to spend a few weeks (or months) developing it yourself.
