Csar Calvo | Begin with WAA on Tue, 19 Apr 2005 20:50:49 +0200 Hello, I am beginning with WAA and at the moment I have already been able to install my web server (sambar) and to start Alaska Web Aplication without problems. I prove it in my lan with another PC and it works stupendously, I refer to the examples. What I don't know what it is what I have to make to see the same thing from a PC outside of my private net, for example to connect me via internet from my office to my home where I have installed all servers. The PC server has Win Professional XP Service pack 2 and a firewall. Do I have to enable some port?, etc. Thanks.
Martin Altmann | Re: Begin with WAA on Tue, 19 Apr 2005 21:02:59 +0200 Csar, - you have to allow traffic via port 80 from outside to the inside! - You have to forward all traffic coming through this port to the internal IP address of the PC running WAA! These two options have to be set on your firewall. In case you do not have received a permanent IP from your provider you would have to use some DDNS-(Dynamic DNS)services like dyndns.org HTH, Martin
Csar Calvo | Re: Begin with WAA on Tue, 19 Apr 2005 22:12:41 +0200 Thank you Martin, It excuses, but before I didn't say that in my house I also have a router and that my address IP is static. Does this influence when making what you tell me? Where do I have to activate the traffic?. Configuring the port in my router?. It excuses if the questions can seem you obviate, but I have never attempted this. Best Regards. Hubert Brandel | Re: Begin with WAA on Tue, 19 Apr 2005 23:49:16 +0200 Hi, > that in my house I also have a router thats good because of security ... > and that my address IP is static this makes it easy ! only on that server or for the router (normaly it would be one per router) ? In your router there should be a section with 'virtual servers' direct PORT 80 to your lokal IP adress of the server. Than a direct call to your static Adress like http://111.222.333.444/ will show the server at internet. (you don't need virtual servers, if your server have a unique static internet adress - unusual for homenets !) If you want to have a name like MyCesarCalvoServer.XYS you could get a offical name, but this will cost yearly money. You can get a free MyCesarCalvo.DYNDNS.ORG adress from www.dyndns.org, so your customer could use the name instead of the IP Adress... Csar Calvo | Re: Begin with WAA on Fri, 22 Apr 2005 21:42:42 +0200 Thanks Martin and Hubert, now I understand several things. I have got configurate all perfect. I was some confused since me only saw from my home. This afternoon I started Samba and WAA Server in my PC and from my parent?s home I wrote my public ip for to see what happened. My great surprise, we can navigate from there seeing the examples without problems. Only one doubt, instead of typing my public ip with numbers, I wanted to make it with an a name that I choose, for example http://www.puntopelota.org. I suppose that this is what I explain to myself Hubert. I am going to study this, name of domain, etc. Best regards.
