When i find the right person, I will be hiring them as Manager of
Development, ideally fulltime, working with us for the next several years,
with an opportunity to become a key part of the management team.

Sound interesting? Send me your details and let’s see if there are some
trial projects we can work on [on contract, full or part-time] to see if
there is a good fit. les.cseh@ally-business-services.com

The work:
- develop specs with participation of developers, users and mgmt
team
- implement projects – plan, budget, monitor, test, communicate
- help us transition large legacy xbase++/waa apps and environment
to:
o well documented processes and data
o solid development and testing approach, including code review
and automated testing. agile?
o Implement bug tracking and wishlist systems, and assist in
prioritization
o quickly implement new business requirements
o lay groundwork for future development platform
            - short term: classes to use for new apps and rewrites; should
cxp play a role? Pci compliance; mobile display considerations;
            - Medium term: use amazon aws servers for redundancy?
            - Long term: ((xbase++ or java) + sql?)
- oversee and plan IT changes as required
- assist with development and support as required

Environment:
- Work from home
- Small friendly ethical biz that is growing (www.AsapChecks.com,
www.Asap-Cheques.com)
- Biz is preparing to diversify to other products and services,
heavily utilizing online marketing, ecommerce and social media
- Very small dev team (1 fulltime, 2 part time), and IT is
outsourced
- Majority of the apps were written by old school developer (me) –
eg. very few classes, huge source files. Much to be rewritten over time.

Skills and Experience:
- Excellent communicator (written and oral) with both tech and
non-tech types
- Good track record with estimating, planning and meeting deadlines
and budgets
- Solid xbase++, waa and html experience
- Bonus if you have experience with ADS, Javascript and Concrete5
CMS (and/or PHP, HTML, CSS)
- Candidates must be ‘relaxed’, easy and fun to work with, very
patient given our limited resources and long wishlist, understanding that
the majority of priorities will be to assist with business and marketing
goals of the business, and that most of the work will have to be shoehorned
into the legacy system while we work in parallel to rewrite it

Compensation:
- Still working on what our “champagne taste, beer budget” can
afford, but read on ..
- Future possibilities include:
        o profit sharing
        o bonuses related to performance
o participation in success of new products
        o VP Systems
        o equity
